Last year I painted a pair of yellow wagtails among the bright yellow flowers of the buttercups that bloom in profusion on Elmley reserve. This painting is a continuation of the theme, this time concentrating on the colours rather than the birds. I have used lilacs and blues alongside of the yellows to intensify their brightness.
